Louisiana Behavioral Health Partnership Community & Provider Forum

The Louisiana Behavioral Health Partnership (LBHP) and the Coordinated System of Care (CSoC) will be managed by Magellan Health Services. As Magellan prepares to transition into the role of Statewide Management Organization (SMO), we are looking forward to working with the state of Louisiana, service providers, adult consumers, youth, family members and other stakeholders to improve behavioral health services in Louisiana. We appreciate this opportunity to introduce ourselves, share information about the upcoming system implementation and learn how we can best serve Louisiana.

Magellan shares the state's goal of empowering individuals living with mental health and substance abuse-related challenges - and their families - to strengthen their recovery and resiliency and enjoy a more meaningful life in the community. Working together, we can achieve a strong, efficient system that helps people do just that.

We are excited to announce that we will hold four forums across the state next month. Each forum is divided into two sessions. The first session is a community forum that focuses on sharing information about Magellan, the SMO transition and the overall process. We will have information tables with representatives from Magellan who will answer questions about clinical management of behavioral health services, quality initiatives and outcomes, and consumers and families.

The second session is a provider forum focusing on credentialing and contracting processes, the accreditation process for organizations; claims and electronic data interchange (EDI) basics; quality practices; fraud, waste and abuse prevention; and an introduction to Clinical Advisor, an electronic behavioral health records (EBHR) computer program.

The intent of these forums is to provide a broad overview to assist providers and stakeholders as they prepare for the transition and interacting with Magellan Health Services.

In addition to this initial overview, we will provide more detailed technical training and support closer to the March 1 implementation date. It is critical for providers to attend the initial forum and the more detailed training after the first of the year. Magellan and the LBHP are committed to a smooth transition that is transparent to members and providers. Provider participation is essential for a successful implementation.

We welcome and encourage consumers, parents and families, providers, and stakeholders to take part in any of the appropriate sessions below.
