MMIS Replacement and Fiscal Intermediary Services

Wednesday, January 4, 2012

BHSF continues to work on the Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) Replacement Project to modernize the system used to enroll and pay Medicaid providers.  BHSF is in the process of contracting with two vendors in assisting BHSF to design, develop and implement the new system:

  1. Public Consulting Group (PCG) as an Independent Verification and Validation (IV & V) contractor.  Their responsibility is to assist the Department to ensure the system will meets all federal and state regulations;
  2. Client Network Services Inc. (CNSI) as the replacement fiscal intermediary

Implementation of a new MMIS should be completed in approximately three years from the CNSI contract start date.  After the system has been fully operational for approximately six months, CMS will perform a certification review.

The project includes the contractors (PCG & CNSI), the MMIS Project Management Team, and various DHH Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).  There is also a DHH Executive Steering Committee responsible for making global decisions related to the project on an as needed basis.
