Louisiana has seen a lot of rain this April, so one of the most important steps you can take now is to check around your home for standing water.

April 18 - 25 is National Infant Immunization Week, and this year the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) Shots for Tots program is partnering with Louisiana Walmart stores to promote infant immunization. Each Walmart pharmacy will display a banner promoting the importance of getting immunized and include immunization schedules as inserts in all prescriptions filled during the week.

The public health laboratory serves as the primary daily testing center for many purposes from ensuring safe drinking water for our residents to screening for genetic and metabolic disorders in newborns.

The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH), the Louisiana March of Dimes and a group of Louisiana hospitals announced a new, voluntary 40-Week Initiative today. The Go the Full 40 Initiative is a voluntary pledge by hospitals to end non-medically indicated induced pregnancies, which helps reduce c-section rates and ensures newborns reach 40 weeks gestation.
