DHH Recalls Oysters and Closes Oyster Harvesting Area

The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) moved quickly Tuesday to close a Terrebonne parish molluscan shellfish harvesting area located in Basin 12, Area 23. DHH also ordered a recall of all oysters harvested from that area since April 26, 2012 including shucked, frozen, breaded, post- harvest processed and oysters for the half shell market.

Louisiana Shots for Tots Pioneer Receives Prestigious National Award

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the CDC Foundation have recognized Bonnie Hughes of Shreveport as one of its first CDC Childhood Immunization Champions. The award acknowledges individuals who have made immunization successes possible in their communities. In this inaugural year, Hughes is one of 39 champions around the country being honored for their efforts as immunization advocates.
