St. Bernard Parish Waterworks; Loan 1 - June 25, 2015 - $11,000,000.00
DWRLF funding will be used for the replacement of aged and deteriorated cast iron waterline segments with new PVC pipe in the St. Bernard Parish Waterworks distribution system in order to reduce and/or eliminate leakage and water main failures in areas with cast iron pipe. The project also includes the installation of a 20-inch diameter PVC waterline extension along HWY 46 in St. Bernard, LA to address low pressure and residence time, as well as adding fire protection for residents and businesses in the area. The addition of fire hydrants, valves, service lines, meters, and fittings along the length of the new and replaced water lines is also proposed as part of the project. A second loan is anticipated following the construction and expenditure of the first loan that will continue the replacement of aged and deteriorated cast iron waterline segments with new PVC pipe in the St. Bernard Parish Waterworks distribution system. The repairs and new lines are necessary to bring the system into compliance with the Louisiana Sanitary Code. Additionally, this project meets EPA’s ‘Green Project Reserve’ requirements and is considered 100% green due to the project’s anticipated water conservation improvements.
